Description
Crispy, cheesy, golden comfort food. These deep fried lasagna mozzarella sticks are rolled with spinach Alfredo, sealed tight, and fried until bubbly. It’s one of my favorite quick and cheap meals—easy dinner recipes for families that taste like a hug.
Ingredients
6 fresh lasagna sheets
12 oz high-quality mozzarella cheese sticks
1/2 cup spinach alfredo sauce
2 cups seasoned breadcrumbs
3 large eggs, beaten
4 cups vegetable oil for frying
Fresh basil leaves (optional)
Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
1. Bring a large pot of water to a gentle boil. Add the lasagna sheets and cook until just bendable—about 5–6 minutes. Lay flat to cool.
2. Spread a thin layer of spinach Alfredo sauce on each cooled lasagna sheet.
3. Place one mozzarella stick at the short edge and roll tightly. Wet the edge with water to seal.
4. Set up two shallow bowls—one with beaten eggs, one with breadcrumbs. Dip each roll in egg, then breadcrumbs. Press lightly to stick.
5. Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 375°F (use a thermometer).
6. Fry 2–3 rolls at a time for 2–3 minutes. Turn once. They should be deeply golden.
7. Remove with tongs and drain on paper towels for one minute.
8. Serve hot with marinara or garlic aioli. Garnish with basil and Parmesan if you’re feeling fancy.
Notes
Stuffani’s Tip: You can use string cheese in a pinch. It melts beautifully and my kids love it.
Make it spicy by adding chili flakes to the breadcrumbs.
Don’t overcrowd the fryer it cools the oil and ruins the crunch.
