Description
This Dunkin Donuts Boston Cream Croissant Loaf is flaky, creamy, and finished with a glossy chocolate glaze. It’s one of the best croissant dessert recipes for families layered with custard filling and topped with sweet richness.
Ingredients
2 cans refrigerated croissant (crescent) dough or puff pastry sheets
2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
2 cups whole milk
½ cup sugar
¼ cup cornstarch
4 large egg yolks
2 tbsp unsalted butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
½ cup heavy cream
1 tbsp butter
Powdered sugar (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease and line a loaf pan with parchment.
2. Layer croissant dough into loaf pan, brushing each layer lightly with melted butter.
3. Bake 20–25 minutes until puffed and golden. Let cool completely.
4. Warm milk in a saucepan. In a bowl, whisk sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks until pale. Slowly whisk in hot milk, then return to saucepan. Stir until thick. Remove from heat, add butter and vanilla. Chill until firm.
5. Slice cooled croissant loaf horizontally. Spread a thick layer of chilled custard inside. Replace top half.
6. Heat heavy cream until steaming. Pour over chocolate chips and butter. Stir until smooth and glossy.
7. Drizzle glaze generously over loaf. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
Stuffani’s Note: Don’t rush the cooling step the custard needs a firm base or the loaf will collapse.
Stuffani’s Whisper: My mom used to tuck the first slice onto my plate still warm, with glaze dripping everywhere. It wasn’t neat, but it was love.
