Description
This BBQ Chicken Cheese Stromboli is everything you crave on a weeknight easy, hearty, golden, and dripping with melty provolone. My mom used to throw together comfort from leftovers, and now I roll that love into something unforgettable.
Ingredients
1 Tbsp unsalted butter
1 small red onion, julienned
1 pizza dough
6 slices provolone cheese
2 cups rotisserie chicken, shredded
½ cup BBQ sauce
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1 tsp Parmesan cheese, grated
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a skillet, melt butter and sauté onions until soft and golden. Set aside.
3. Roll out pizza dough on parchment paper into a large rectangle—not too thin.
4. Lay provolone slices down the center, slightly overlapping.
5. In a bowl, mix shredded chicken, BBQ sauce, and onions. Spoon evenly over cheese.
6. Use parchment to help roll the dough into a log, seam side down. Tuck ends.
7. Brush with beaten egg. Sprinkle Italian seasoning and Parmesan. Score top diagonally.
8. Bake 20–25 minutes until golden brown and cheese bubbles through the slits.
9. Slice and serve with extra BBQ sauce or a simple green salad.
Notes
Let it cool slightly before slicing for cleaner edges.
Use sharp kitchen scissors for scoring the dough before baking.
Store leftovers tightly wrapped for up to 3 days. Reheat in oven to maintain crispiness.
