Description
This quick and easy chocolate mug cake uses just 3 tablespoons of cake mix to create a single-serving dessert in your microwave in just 90 seconds. Perfect for late-night chocolate cravings!
Ingredients
3 tablespoons chocolate cake mix
2 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Optional: 1 tablespoon chocolate chips
Optional: 1 teaspoon peanut butter
Optional: 1 tablespoon mini marshmallows
Optional: 1 tablespoon chopped nuts
Optional: 1 small dollop of caramel sauce
Optional: A few raspberries or sliced strawberries
Optional: Whipped cream or ice cream for serving
Instructions
Choose a microwave-safe mug that holds at least 10 ounces to prevent overflow.
Add the cake mix, water, and oil directly to the mug. Stir with a fork until smooth and no dry pockets remain.
If using mix-ins like chocolate chips or peanut butter, gently fold them in now.
Microwave on high for 45-60 seconds. Start with 45 seconds, then check the cake. It should be set but still slightly moist on top.
If needed, cook in additional 10-second intervals, being careful not to overcook.
Add any desired toppings and enjoy while warm!
Notes
Microwaves vary in power, so watch carefully the first time to find your perfect cook time.
For a gooey center, push a square of chocolate or a dollop of peanut butter into the center of the batter before microwaving.
For a fluffier texture, add a drop of vanilla extract and a tiny pinch of salt to the batter.
You can pre-measure several servings of the dry cake mix into small containers for even faster preparation.
This recipe is perfect for teaching children basic cooking skills.
