This One Pan Sweet and Tangy Barbecue Sausage Rice is a smoky, tangy, family-friendly dinner made with sausage, rice, and barbecue sauce. Quick, comforting, and budget-friendly for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
1 pound smoked sausage, sliced
1 cup long-grain rice
1 cup barbecue sauce (your choice)
2 cups chicken broth
1 medium onion, diced
1 bell pepper, diced
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup frozen corn (optional)
2 green onions, sliced for garnish
Instructions
1. In a large skillet, sauté sliced sausage until browned. Remove and set aside.
2. Cook onion and bell pepper until softened, then add garlic.
3. Stir in rice, paprika, salt, and pepper until coated.
4. Add barbecue sauce, chicken broth, sausage, and corn if using.
5. Cover, simmer on low for 20 minutes until rice is tender.
6. Turn off heat, rest 5 minutes. Fluff with fork, garnish with green onions, and serve.
Notes
Use day-old rice for best texture if reheating.
Swap smoked sausage with turkey or chicken sausage for a lighter version.
Freeze without rice and add fresh rice when reheating for best results.
